Bastiaan van Doorn

Bastiaan van Doorn, MSc, LLM, has been a lawyer since 1999. Bastiaan studied law (cum honore) at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and business administration at Nyenrode Business University. After completing his university studies, Bastiaan started his career at Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman). He then worked at several international law firms and multinationals, where he was involved in a wide range of M&A transactions, IPOs, commercial contracts, and financings. In 2003, he started his own advisory and legal practice. Since then, Bastiaan has worked for various clients, and in this capacity, he is also affiliated with AMS Advocaten.

Expertise

Bastiaan is an all-round M&A lawyer specialized in purchase and sale transactions, investments and divestments, due diligence investigations, restructurings, carve-outs, (re)financing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and M&A contracts and providing corporate governance and corporate law advice. His business degree, besides his law degree and experience, gives him a thorough understanding of both the legal and the commercial-financial aspects of transactions.

Track record

Bastiaan has been involved in numerous M&A deals in his career and advises on a large number of deals each year from small, mid-market to large cross-border transactions, for family-owned businesses to private equity firms, in competitive auction processes and for Dutch and international companies.

Registration

Bastiaan’s principal area of law is corporate law in the register of legal areas of the Netherlands Bar Association. On the basis of this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in the registered principal legal area in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association.
